Challenge #10 Spaghetti Towers

Welcome to an old favorite among engineering challenges. In fact, this challenge has an entire TedTalk devoted to it. You can find that here. My favorite part of this TedTalk is that young children have the right skill sets to solve it, while adults, well... not so much!

Your challenge: Build a freestanding tower using either 10 or 20 sticks of spaghetti and tape. Balance weight at the top. A marshmallow is traditional, but a penny works, as does a sticky ball of tape.

Supplies:

* Spaghetti

* Tape

* Weight

Extensions:

* Use only one yard of tape (excepting the ball for weight)

* Use 20 sticks and build higher than 2ft

Sorry we missed you!

Were you looking for Monday's engineering challenge? Our apologies - we had a family distraction.... everything's fine, no one's sick, but we didn't have the time to blog. We'll be back tomorrow!
